Scientists have developed a vitamin pill to treat advanced prostate cancer.

US drug company Novacea has produced a pill which delivers a concentrated dose of the vitamin without running the risk of side-effects from an overdose. The drug has said to have produced impressive results in preliminary phase two trials, however, it is far from certain that phase 3 trials will repeat the success of the first two trials.

Prostate cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in men, it kills one man every hour in the UK, so any advancement in its treatment is welcomed.
