Our History

2000

Where it all began

Father and son Ben and Brendan Deering launched Comfort Plus in Ireland, determined to make mobility products more accessible for everyone. Continuing the family tradition, Ben’s daughter and Brendan’s sister, Karen, joined to help lead and manage the business.

2002

Expanding across the water

Success in Ireland soon spread, and in 2002 we brought Comfort Plus to homes in England and Wales.

2004 -

A true family business

As we grew, Ben’s son-in-law Tony joined. From then on, Comfort Plus became a family dedicated to caring for yours.

2009

Peace of mind for life

We launched our Lifetime Guarantee, giving customers reassurance that we’d always be there to look after them way beyond their initial purchase.

2012

A national name

After ten years of growth, Comfort Plus became a trusted supplier across the whole of the UK.

2013

More choice, more support

Recognising the many different medical and mobility needs of our customers, we expanded our range with bespoke options and optional extras.

2015

Innovation first

We became one of the first UK companies to introduce a mechanically operated back support system.

2017

A new workshop

Opening our own workshop meant we could create unique features and tailor products even more closely to our customers needs.

2019

Strengthening aftercare

We strengthened our after-sales service by introducing an on-site repair facility, enabling us to fix products at our Head Office and reducing call lead times.

2020

Caring through Covid

Even through the pandemic, we kept customers safe and supported, ensuring comfort was never compromised.

2022

Improving customer experience

Investment in new technology and software helped to improve our customer experience, whilst extensive R&D ensured our chair and bed products continue to give maximum comfort and benefit to our customers.

2024

A new generation

We launched more contemporary designs, and Ben’s grandson, Jamie Farrar, stepped up as our new Managing Director.

2025

Innovation for retirement homes

We introduced The Churchill, a compact, highly adjustable chair created especially for retirement homes.

Community

From Macmillan Cancer and the NHS, to local causes such as Jackie’s drop in centre, and the Garden House Hospice, we always want to support invaluable work done in our community.

Partnerships

We haven’t got where we are today on our own, so we’re constantly forging partnerships with companies and organisations that can help to make our products outstanding. Collaboration brings out the best in all of us.

Join the Family

We’re constantly looking for people who share our values and care about the needs of people with reduced mobility. These are our current opportunities.

There are no vacancies available to join the Comfort Plus family at the moment, but please keep checking back.

Key products designed around you

My husband couldn’t get out his chair very well as he had a very bad fall. He loves the light over the top for reading his paper. The chair has really given him a lot of comfort and stability.

- Doreen Richardson

I wanted a chair that I wouldn’t have to heave myself out of. It future proofs my situation. I’m very excited about the bed too. The lifetime guarantee was very desirable as well. Why wait to buy it if its guaranteed forever!

- Mrs Beadle

The level of service gives me such a good piece of mind that it will last and it is money worth spending.
