Jill Southern lives in the beautiful Malvern Hills in Worcestershire, where she recently made the big decision to move and start a new chapter of life.
Moving home later in life can feel like a major upheaval, but for Jill it opened the door to new friendships and a renewed sense of community.
“It’s been really exciting to join a new friendship group at my age. Moving here is a very big upheaval, but it’s worthwhile when you’ve done it. I’m very pleased I’ve done it.”
Surrounded by nature, Jill enjoys a lifestyle that combines independence, connection with others and simple everyday comforts.
The Challenge: Staying Comfortable and Independent at Home
Like many people who value an active and fulfilling retirement, Jill wanted to maintain her independence and continue enjoying the things that make life meaningful.
“I’d quite like to live till I’m 90 and have a fulfilling life. I don’t want to be rusting out — I’d rather wear out.”
She enjoys watching nature programmes, relaxing with a cup of tea and staying involved with the world around her.
But as we get older, comfort and proper support when sitting become increasingly important — especially for circulation and relaxation.
Jill had reclining seating before, but it simply didn’t offer the same level of support or adjustability she needed.
Why Comfort Plus?
Jill discovered the Comfort Plus riser recliner chair and quickly realised how different it was from ordinary reclining furniture.
“The Comfort Plus chair that I’m in now has been a really good buy. The first thing I do when I come in is make myself a cup of tea and sit in my chair.”
Unlike standard recliners, the Comfort Plus chair allows her to elevate her legs properly — something she finds especially beneficial.
“I think it’s quite good to elevate your legs as you get older so you don’t get puffy legs.”
The chair also provides a deeper and more supportive reclining position than her previous sofa recliners.
The Result: Everyday Comfort and Relaxation
Today, Jill enjoys spending time in her Comfort Plus chair watching television, relaxing and sometimes even drifting off for a short nap.
“I’ve been known to doze off in the chair!”
The chair has become part of her daily routine and one of the comforts she most enjoys when she returns home.
“I wouldn’t want to be without it now. I think it’s important to have a comfortable chair and a comfortable bed.”
For Jill, having both means she can relax fully and enjoy her home life.
“You know when you go on holiday, it’s nice to come home. It’s nice to get into your own chair — and your own bed as well.”
Living Well in the Malvern Hills
Jill continues to enjoy her independence, friendships and the beautiful natural surroundings of the Malvern Hills.
With the right furniture supporting her comfort and wellbeing, she can focus on the things that matter most — staying active, connected and enjoying life.
Jill’s story shows that the right chair isn’t just about comfort.
It’s about supporting independence and making everyday life more enjoyable.
